THEATREWORKS

UCCS THEATRE COMPANY
The Osborne Studio and The Theatre of Ideas

The relationship between THEATREWORKS and the University of Colorado Colorado Springs is a valued connection for both institutions. There are few theatre departments in the country in which students have the opportunity to meet and work with outstanding, professional artists. Likewise, there are few professional theatre companies that are able to use the resources of an institution of higher learning as a way to workshop new ideas and help nurture the professional artists of tomorrow.

The THTR & DNCE Program is committed to creating a Theatre of Ideas, a place and an ethos that espouses the cultural benefit that the performing arts provide.  With our season of performances, The Prologue Lecture Series, Audience Conversations and, of course, our exciting and rigorous curriculum, we believe we are providing a superb resource for the entire Pikes Peak region.

I hope that you take the time this season to have a look at these new artists and the exciting things that they are creating.  We have the ability to attempt new things in our little theatre downstairs and indeed across our community.  Our season and our theatre are packed but there is always room for THEATREWORKS patrons and members of the Colorado Springs family of arts lovers.  I look forward to seeing you at our events.

PARTERRE STAGE

Parterre is our term for a new kind of theatre that is student conceived, directed and staged. The founding principle of Parterre is the belief that theatre practitioners need to address community and location in their presentation of performance. This student company presents unique, site-specific performances around UCCS and Colorado Springs. The performances are free of charge and promise to be unlike anything you have ever seen. This is the future of theatre!
